The tiny little mustard is roughly the same size as the salt and pepper shakers but so much more sophisticated with it's lid and spoon slot. The lid, like the medium sized C handled teapot, is slip cast in one piece so no extra handwork is needed. The foot would have still have to be flared out by hand with the rings around the foot then etched in afterwards by hand as well. Mustard jars are usually in good shape, collectors just need to be on the lookout for small chips around the spoon hole or on the underside of the foot. None are easy to find though and they are one of the most charming pieces of the pottery line, so there will be competition for them to add to your collection.
3 " tall x 2 1/2" wide from fatest part of the belly of the mustard edge to edge.
Almost always unmarked. In over 20 years of collecting I have only seen a few marked with the glaze stamp 'HLCo USA', same way the inside of the bottom of the sweets comport is marked.
Circa 1936-1946: Made in the first six original vintage colors. Red discontinued by the end of 1942.
