Vases came in three sizes: 8", 10" (shown here) and 12". The 10" vase was only made for about 6 years, making it one of the shorter lived pieces from the original fiestaware pottery line. The flower vases were not part of the original 34 pieces released in January of 1936, but were designed and released shortly afterward in that summers first round of 14 new additions. The vases were slip cast in four different pieces which would have had to have been joined together by hand.
Again though, this is a piece that is being reproduced in exactly the same original molds, so you must know your colors and your marks. Sometimes the new ones will have a raised letter "H" on the bottom - very helpfull. Also, the new vases are slightly shorter than the originals - so if your vase is 9 3/4" cobalt - chances are it is new and not old. Color is the key though, and once you see new colors next to old there shouldn't be any comparison. New colors are much more transparent and less solid and opaque than the originals.
Vintage Fiesta 10" vases measure exactly a full 10" tall by nearly 6" across the top and 5" across the bottom foot.
Marked in the mold with the "fiesta MADE IN U.S.A.", plain with no outside bottom rings.
Circa 1936-1942. Discontined when red was withdrawn.
